Felix Ari Michael was born in Lagos, Nigeria. He is gifted with many talents. He is a musician who plays the trumpet, Flugelhorn, saxophone and percussion. As a young boy, he started playing shakers, tambourine and cleff in church. He loved to dance and would often sing back up for artists. His mother introduced him to music through their Kenwood deck which flowed with the sounds of King Sunny Ade, Chief Ebenezer Obey, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Marvin Gaye, Kool and the Gang and other greats in the music industry. In 1999, Felix took the bold step to learn how to play and hone his skills on the trumpet with the advise of a friend. In 2001, Felix was asked to play with the famous Highlife musician Dr. Victor Olaiya (The Evil Genius) at the Stadium Hotel Surulere as the second Trumpeter. This same year, Felix played with Frank Uke’s Ame and the Agogo. In 2002, Felix left Dr Victor Olaiya band and began playing with The Black Face Band under the direction of Seyi Solagbade. During his tenure here, he expanded his knowledge of different genres of music.

He studied and graduated from Music Technology at Polytechnic Ibadan in Oyo State at the music department under the tenure of Prof. Oluwole Adetiran (late) the faculty Dean. In 2008 he played with the Iroko band under the direction of Dr. Ola Balogun. In his career he was an Assist. Music Teacher at Emerald Schools Lagos where he subsequently composed the school’s anthem. He was later appointed as the Music Director at the same Emerald High school in 2006 and served in this capacity until 2009 before he relocated to South Africa. In South Africa, he joined the great Afrobeat artist band Femi Koya where he currently plays trumpet and flugelhorn since 2010. With this band, he has performed in many festivals such as Smoking Dragon, Rocking the Daisies, Oppikopi, Standard Bank Joy of Jazz among many others. In 2010, he joined the Kingclip Casting Agency and has taken major feature roles for various TV commercials such as KFC, MTN, Nandos, GoTV Nigeria, Samsung and others brands.

Felix is a professional recording artist and he released his first album AYANFE in 2022. His goal is to perform his music around the world to be motivated and energized by the sounds of African music. From the voice of the soul we speak through music……Stay tuned as he releases new music.
